proper mindsetOne of my goals for 2011 is to lose some weight. I’ve done it before so I knew I could do it again. About 10 or 12 years ago I had success on the Weight Watchers plan counting points, and lost about 30 pounds. It amazed me that I was able to keep the weight off for most of those years. I guess that just shows how good of a weight loss plan it is. It also shows how having the proper mindset allowed me to keep on achieving my goals.

Because of my past success with Weight Watchers, and the advertisements I read about their new Points Plus plan, I decided to give it another go. The new plan said you get more points and most fruits and vegetables are zero points. So, I registered and attended my first meeting to understand the new plan. They have a little calculator that calculates points based on nutritional labels on food containers. It sounded like it would be easy to stick with it.

The first week was a little confusing as I assimilated to the new plan, but I must have done something right because I lost a couple of pounds! That was just the motivation I needed! I began looking through the documentation they provide to see what tasty morsels I can fit into my meal planning. They have so much information on their website to help you all along the way to weight loss success. I was beginning to ease into the proper mindset.

I continue to try new recipes, and plan the next day’s meals the night before. It seems like I think about food constantly now but that’s ok. It makes me more aware of what I’m eating so I can achieve my short term and long term goals. The trick to achieving any goal really, is to have the proper mindset. You need to constantly think about what you want and keep thinking of things you need to do to get you where you want to go. It also helps to keep those goals right in front of you at all times so you don’t lose sight of them.

Positive affirmations also help you stay in the proper mindset. So, as you begin your goal planning, be sure to include having the proper mindset as part of your strategy on your road to success.
