Stick to a Schedule to Relieve Stress

By |2023-08-14T12:03:14-05:00August 16th, 2023|Categories: Reduce Stress|Tags: , , , , |

When you stick to a schedule you relieve stress whether you are aware of it or not. Think about it, I’ll wait. It makes sense, doesn’t it? That is if you have already created one, that’s key.  If not, here’s a post I wrote some time ago that talks about scheduling tasks to accomplish goals. The main goal being to relieve stress. What needs to be scheduled, you may ask, well, everything! Everything you do needs to be documented in some way with dates and times included in the documentation which makes up a schedule.  Some examples are shown in [...]

By |2021-06-02T10:30:49-05:00June 2nd, 2021|Categories: Change|Tags: , , , , , |

A lifestyle change means new behaviors that could result in new routines. It can be in various aspects of your life such as your health, your professional life, or manner of income, moving, a relationship, getting organized, going to college, a new baby, retirement, etc. In each of the situations mentioned above, the lifestyle change will mean a change, or changes that will occur. By |2020-11-17T13:41:12-06:00August 5th, 2020|Categories: Reduce Stress|Tags: , , , , , , |

Quite awhile ago I added meditation to my stress therapy regime.  Life is full of ups and downs that can produce an overwhelming amount of stress.  We all need to learn how to manage our stress. How you handle stress can have a significant effect on your physical, as well as emotional and mental well-being. According to the Mayo Clinic, research suggests that there are medical benefits as well.  Some conditions have symptoms that may be managed by regularly practicing [...]

Using Visual Cues as Reminders

By |2020-11-17T13:41:12-06:00July 22nd, 2020|Categories: Productivity|Tags: , , , , , |

Using visual cues as reminders to do things is a great productivity hack.  On a related note, it’s a great way to create a routine, and also to reach a goal. We all have a lot of things to do on a daily basis and remembering to do them can be challenging. However, when we get into the habit of performing repetitive tasks such as in a routine, after some time, the routine becomes habit and we don’t even think about the actions involved. In the case of creating a routine, visual cues come in handy as a reminder to [...]

It’s All About Repetition

By |2020-11-17T13:41:12-06:00July 1st, 2020|Categories: Change, Routines|Tags: , , , |

The definition of repetition according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is, “the act or an instance of repeating or being repeated”. Repetition is key for so many situations, but probably the most important is learning.  When we learn something new, we repeat what we’ve learned to remember how to do it again.  We practice the action repeatedly so our brain solidifies the data to store for retrieval when we need it. About seven months ago, I adopted a young standard poodle from a local rescue named Star. The rescue was unsure of how her previous owners treated her, but she’s seems [...]

Behavior Based Organizing

By |2022-02-07T10:32:51-06:00October 19th, 2016|Categories: Routines|Tags: , , , , |

What is behavior based organizing?  The answer is, organizing solutions based on natural habits and routines.  If a solution is created that requires actions radically different than you are used to, it forces you to radically change your behavior.  When you force a behavior change, you are less likely to maintain your solutions. We all have them, even the most disorganized have some established routines and habits.  These routines may, or may not work well, depending on how you organize the steps.  The key is the efficiency of the steps in the routine, in terms of behavior.  Organization equals efficiency.
