Creating an Organized Laundry Room

By |2020-11-17T13:41:40-06:00November 18th, 2013|Categories: Home Organization, Organizing Tips|Tags: , , |

A very common organizing challenge for many of my clients is laundry. We all have clothes for different roles and the number of roles we have is different for everyone. More roles could mean different wardrobes for each of those roles. There could be school clothes, work clothes, play clothes, etc. Not only does your family generate dirty clothes, but there will be towels and bed linens as well. This means that you could have an overwhelming amount of laundry on a regular basis, that at some point, you will have to clean. Having a lot of clothes, and the need [...]

Here we are, once again, at the beginning of October and just past the autumnal equinox. Temperatures are cooling, leaves are beginning to turn colors and will soon begin their descent from their limbs to the ground. Fall decorations are beginning to appear in shop windows and in many homes around the neighborhood. The holidays are just around the corner, and it’s time to begin preparations for all the festive events that take place this time of year. As we begin to plan for the upcoming holidays and the gatherings with family and friends, meal planning is a big piece of the [...]

By |2021-05-11T10:43:54-05:00August 28th, 2012|Categories: Organizing Tips, Travel|Tags: , , , |

Do you know someone that is a frequent business traveler?  I don’t mean several times a year, although that is a lot.  I mean every week.  I do.  My good friend Mary is a consultant and she leaves her beautiful home early every Monday morning to catch a flight to Atlanta where she works.  On Thursday evening she takes a flight back to Colorado. Mary is a very organized person.   She really has to be organized to keep track of all the personal care items she needs for travel, as well as business related tools, to be the best of [...]

Spring Brings New Beginnings

By |2020-11-17T13:41:47-06:00March 20th, 2012|Categories: Home Organization, Organizing Tips, Spring Cleaning|Tags: , , , |

Spring signifies rebirth, renewal, regrowth, new beginnings. Flowers are starting to bud as they wake from their winter slumber. Everything is fresh and new. It’s my favorite season! It’s a good time to open the windows to let out the stagnant energy after many months of winter, and let in new fresh air/energy. A good spring cleaning will refresh the inside of your home to coincide with the rebirth taking place outside. Before the cleaning begins, however, you need to de-clutter your spaces to enable your interior energy to flow freely. Cluttered spaces allows for energy to become stagnant, which [...]

Clearing Clutter Magnets

By |2020-11-17T13:41:48-06:00January 11th, 2012|Categories: Home Organization, Organizing Tips|Tags: , , |

Clutter magnets are areas or spaces in your home, car and office that attract clutter. Everyone has them. They’re called magnets for a good reason. Clutter is drawn to these spaces like a magnet. They are dumping grounds for stuff, and that stuff quickly accumulates to become clutter. You may ask why these spaces are prone to becoming magnets for clutter, and I don’t have an answer. I guess it’s just one of those little mysteries of life. Our intentions are good. We say, I’ll just put this here for now and put it away later. Then we get distracted, [...]

Coming Out Of The Closet – Eliminate Closet Clutter

By |2020-11-17T13:41:50-06:00August 23rd, 2011|Categories: Decluttering, Home Organization, Organizing Tips|Tags: , , , |

Do you know what’s in your closet? This is a great question. We all have closets in our living environments that are used for different things. A hall or foyer closet can be used to store coats, hats, umbrellas and maybe even the vacuum cleaner, mine does. Bedroom closets are typically used for clothes, shoes and accessories, but if you are short on storage space, it may need to double as another function such as a linen closet. Closets can also become great hiding places. I remember as a child when my Mom told me to clean my room and [...]

Paper Clutter May Be The Biggest Organizing Challenge For Most

By |2020-11-17T13:41:51-06:00January 26th, 2011|Categories: Organizing Tips, Paper Management|Tags: , , , |

Paper clutter seems to be one of the biggest organizing challenges for, well, everyone actually. Most of my clients have clutter in the form of paper in various places all over their homes. Paper accounts for 25 percent of waste in the landfill and 33 percent of municipal waste. Recycling can help with these numbers but the point is that we have a lot of paper to deal with at any given time. Paper takes up a lot of space even when it’s organized.  When it’s not, it becomes paper clutter.  And as I’ve mentioned before, clutter produces stagnant energy, [...]

Wrap Up The Holidays

By |2020-11-17T13:41:54-06:00January 3rd, 2010|Categories: Holiday Organization, Organizing Tips, Storage|Tags: , , |

It’s after the holidays, the festivities have played out and some wonderful memories were created. All the hustle and bustle of last minute shopping and preparations are but a distant memory. Things have settled down from hectic to a much slower pace. Now it’s time to wrap up the holidays. The passing of the holidays signifies the end of this year, and the beginning of a new year. It’s time to start fresh with a blank canvas to create the best year yet! It’s also time to get your home back in order so you can begin the year on the [...]
