Dependencies on Others Can Derail Your Schedule

By |2020-11-17T13:41:18-06:00September 11th, 2019|Categories: Time Management|Tags: , , , |

Humans are dependent on other humans in so many ways. Your schedule is no exception to the dependencies rule.  Planning and scheduling tasks and appointments is an effective way to manage your time.  However, planning and scheduling your tasks almost always depends on another person or persons. When you make a doctor’s appointment, you’re dependent on the doctor and their staff to be available at the scheduled time. When you take off work to have a service performed at your home, you’re dependent on that service provider to arrive at the scheduled time. You are dependent on these service providers [...]

Service Call – The 4 Hour Window

By |2020-11-17T13:41:25-06:00July 25th, 2018|Categories: Time Management|Tags: , , , , |

Service providers generally give you a range of time to expect them on the date you schedule service.  Some provide a 4 hour window, others more or less depending on the provider.  As you schedule the service call have your calendar at hand to make the appointment work with your schedule. You may have to move things around or take time off from work to find a date and time that works for both parties. Some service providers have requirements attached to the appointment. For example, they will call you prior to their arrival and if you don’t answer the [...]

How Do You Remember Everything?

By |2021-05-10T17:26:13-05:00December 27th, 2017|Categories: Planning, Time Management|Tags: , , , |

All of us have so much to remember these days, it’s a wonder we actually get anything done on time, or at all!  Changing work schedules, doctor’s appointments, medication schedules, paying bills, kids sports, ‘me time’, passwords, the list goes on… We suffer the consequences of not remembering something in some way. If we miss a payment, there could be a late fee.  If we miss a dose of medication, our health could suffer.  Forgetting login credentials can take more time to get things done online. Neglecting ‘me time’ can cause undue stress which can again lead to health issues.  [...]

How to Schedule Tasks to Accomplish Goals

By |2020-11-17T13:41:33-06:00January 24th, 2016|Categories: Planning, Time Management|Tags: , , |

Planning is typically a hot topic at the beginning of the new year.  Some make New Year’s resolutions on a whim, perhaps at a party.  Others create goals and make a plan to accomplish those goals.  Another scenario is to tweak an existing plan that may not be working so well. Part of the planning process should include scheduling tasks associated with your goals.  Having a plan is great, but if you don’t actually schedule the time to complete the tasks, those tasks may just fall by the wayside, and you may end up not meeting your goals. Things can [...]

Boo! Did I scare you? We are approaching the Halloween season, just having past the Autumnal Equinox a couple of weeks ago. It’s getting cooler outside and the leaves are beginning to turn colors. There’s definitely a shift in the air. And if you have kids they may already be thinking about what they’re going to wear for Halloween. This is the time to begin the planning process if you haven’t already started. Having a plan will take the guesswork out of knowing what you should do, when organizing for Halloween. Spring Brings New Beginnings

By |2020-11-17T13:41:47-06:00March 20th, 2012|Categories: Home Organization, Organizing Tips, Spring Cleaning|Tags: , , , |

Spring signifies rebirth, renewal, regrowth, new beginnings. Flowers are starting to bud as they wake from their winter slumber. Everything is fresh and new. It’s my favorite season! It’s a good time to open the windows to let out the stagnant energy after many months of winter, and let in new fresh air/energy. A good spring cleaning will refresh the inside of your home to coincide with the rebirth taking place outside. Before the cleaning begins, however, you need to de-clutter your spaces to enable your interior energy to flow freely. Cluttered spaces allows for energy to become stagnant, which [...]

I don’t have enough time!

By |2020-11-17T13:41:51-06:00February 16th, 2011|Categories: Planning, Productivity, Time Management|Tags: , , , |

“I’m too busy, I don’t have enough time!” It seems like everyone I talk to these days is saying this same thing. I understand. I feel the same way. Sometimes it feels like I’m on a runaway treadmill that simply won’t stop. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish everything on my list of things to do, or so it seems. You know that list, the one that you constantly add to and seem to never get everything on it checked off. So, maybe it’s not the actual list that makes us feel that we don't have [...]
