take actionAre you stuck in a rut? Do you want different results? As we go along life’s path, things change and the routines and processes that worked so well for us in the past are not working today. Maybe you need to take action to try something different then what you’ve been doing. If you think about it, it makes sense. When you continue doing the same things but don’t get the results you want, a change in the actions you take is required.

When I get stuck in an aspect of my life, the phrase that Albert Einstein made popular pops into my head; ‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results’. These old, maybe outdated actions cause you to become stuck in the same position.  A different approach to the situation is in order to produce a different outcome.

When you take action by using another approach, the results will be different.  Some analysis is in order to find out what is working and what isn’t working for a particular situation.  Then when you understand the thing’s you’re doing that don’t work, look for an approach that will produce the desired outcome.

We are beginning a new year and a lot of people make resolutions.  Some to eat healthier or to lose weight, some will resolve to get out of debt, get organized or spend more time with family. These are not so much about resolutions, but examples of situations in which you want to see different outcomes. What you’ve been doing has not worked. These are the things you need to take action in the form of a different approach, or to change your behavior in order to get the desired results.  Either way you need to take action.

Making a change to a well-established routine can be challenging but not impossible. As mentioned above, determine what is working, what is not working, then look for an approach that will produce the desired outcome. As you begin taking the steps required for the new approach, or routine, the repetitiveness of the actions will soon become habit. After some time, look at the results. If this new approach works, that’s great, if not, then look for another approach.  It’s all trial and error to find what works for you to produce the desired results.

What situation in your life would you like to see a different outcome?
