Now that the warmer weather is here in the Midwest, it’s time to start thinking about getting away from it all, to spend some time relaxing, to plan a vacation! When planning a vacation, there are many things to consider. For me, thinking about where I want to go, how I will get there and where I will stay, are probably my top 3 most important points to consider.

Whether I’m going to a place I’ve never been before, or when I revisit my favorite places, I look for a place to stay that has the feel of a home away from my home. That feeling for me is best in a bed and breakfast, and I look for one as part of my plan most everywhere I go. The atmosphere in a B&B is warm and cozy and has the feel of staying with friends. For my tastes, the accommodations seem much more personal than a hotel.

I recently came back from a NAPO conference in New Orleans where I stayed in the conference hotel. After the conference, I stayed for a few extra days to visit with a dear friend and see the sites that I haven’t seen for quite some time. New Orleans is one of my favorite places to visit, so rich in history, wonderful sites to see, and the food is amazing! I stayed in a fabulous B&B near the French Quarter called The Dauphine House. Now, I am a little partial to this particular B&B because the friend I mentioned earlier in this post, Karen Jeffries, is the proprietor and this is her home. Karen really captured the ambiance of the French Quarter with the décor, and I found the room to be warm and inviting with all the amenities of home. And, if you need recommendations on sites to see and places to dine, Karen has a book of her favorites in each room. I speak from experience when I say she knows all the best places to visit in Nawlins!

So, the next time you plan a trip to the Big Easy, and want a home away from home, contact Karen to see if she has availability at her place, you will be glad you did!
