peace of mindAccording to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the definition of peace of mind is, “a feeling of being safe or protected.” This is not just a part of the tag line for SOS, you actually hear it a lot in advertising, especially from home security companies.

My rendition of what it means, is that you don’t have to worry about something, and in a world where so many things are uncertain, the more peace of mind we have in life equals less stress. We all strive to achieve the goal of less stress, or I think we do.

There are so many things in our lives that cause us to worry and stress over. Those things will be different for everyone but there are some commonalities for humans as a whole. Health, personal safety, relationships, and money are just some that come to mind.

In order to find peace of mind, we need to understand our own individual stressors and determine a course of action to deal with them. Coping mechanisms can help in a big way with situations that blindside us, but it may be a good idea to take a proactive approach to avoid these stressors in the first place.

I’m pretty sure you know what I’m going to suggest in terms of a proactive approach since I’m a professional organizer. So, here it is, getting organized in all aspects of your life is a proactive approach to achieve and maintain peace of mind.

Organizing your space and time are a couple of good places to start. Those two categories will set the foundation. Then when you are feeling less stressed, it will allow you to focus on other areas.  This is not a quick and easy solution, but it will set the foundation as mentioned above to achieve peace of mind.
