Image courtesy of Witthaya Phonsawat / FreeDigitalPhotos.net   At some point in your life you may need to, or already have, taken on the role of caregiver to a loved one.  The following statistic gives you an idea of the magnitude of caregivers in the United States - 65.7 million caregivers make up 29% of the U.S. adult population providing care to someone who is ill, disabled or aged. ~The National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP (2009). The caregiver role includes a range of responsibilities based on the level of care your loved one requires.   Whether it’s short term or [...]

Why You Should Relax and Take a Vacation…Now

By |2020-11-17T13:41:36-06:00January 18th, 2015|Categories: Reduce Stress|Tags: , |

Image courtesy of savit keawtavee / FreeDigitalPhotos.net “The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it.” ~Sydney J. Harris   Sydney J. Harris has the right idea.  I just came off of a 10 day vacation which I really, really needed. However, the timing couldn't have been worse. It was at the end of the year when I had so much to do by wrapping up the holidays and working on my plans for the new year, personal and business. There are also other family situations which I am involved in to contribute to the [...]

Top 3 Benefits of Giving The Gift of Service

Image courtesy of digitalalert / FreeDigitalPhotos.net Trying to figure out a gift for that special someone? We put so much thought into finding the right gifts for everyone on our lists. Whether they are naughty or nice, we want to show our love for them by presenting each one with that perfect gift. Each one of us is unique, and the perfect gift for one, may not be the perfect gift for another. There are those that have so much that adding one more ‘thing’ to their spaces may not really be a wise choice. My recommendation is to consider [...]

Since we are at the end of July, if you have kids, you are probably thinking about what you need to do to prepare them to go back to school. Summer fun is winding down and it’s time to get back into our morning routine to go back to work and school. I know that’s not as easy as it sounds. It takes no time at all to get out of a routine, and quite a bit more time to get back into it, whether it’s the kids going back to school, or you going back to work after a [...]

When it Rains it Pours – Dealing With Overwhelm When Life Happens

By |2020-11-17T13:41:44-06:00November 5th, 2012|Categories: Reduce Stress|Tags: , , |

Ever hear that phrase, ‘when it rains, it pours’? I’m sure you have at one time or another.  And we all know what it means – when one thing happens right after another, and these ‘things’ are usually not good things, although they can be. That's when overwhelm happens. Life happens, and things can change dramatically at a moment’s notice, and it can be overwhelming. The not-so-good things can cause a huge amount of stress and anxiety, especially if you don’t have time to recoup from one thing before the next one happens. Our bodies and minds are pretty resilient; [...]

Paper Clutter May Be The Biggest Organizing Challenge For Most

By |2020-11-17T13:41:51-06:00January 26th, 2011|Categories: Organizing Tips, Paper Management|Tags: , , , |

Paper clutter seems to be one of the biggest organizing challenges for, well, everyone actually. Most of my clients have clutter in the form of paper in various places all over their homes. Paper accounts for 25 percent of waste in the landfill and 33 percent of municipal waste. Recycling can help with these numbers but the point is that we have a lot of paper to deal with at any given time. Paper takes up a lot of space even when it’s organized.  When it’s not, it becomes paper clutter.  And as I’ve mentioned before, clutter produces stagnant energy, [...]

By |2020-11-17T13:41:53-06:00November 22nd, 2010|Categories: Organizing Tips, Planning, Travel, Vacations|Tags: , , , , |

When traveling with kids, you often hear this question - 'are we there yet?' These are 4 words that parents hear from the backseat a lot when traveling, especially during holiday travels.  Kids get bored easily and just sitting there without anything to keep them busy will prompt this question frequently. They are also probably excited to get to their destination to start the holiday festivities! Some kids have more energy than others, and sitting still for long periods of time can be difficult for them.  Small children that are required to ride in car seats have more of an issue [...]
